Recycled White Oak Cabinets These cabinets are made entirely of solid White Oak. This wood is unique because it was at one time Barn Beams! The company who supplied the wood, Restoration Timber, specializes in de-constructing structures that are hundreds of years old, and re-sawing the timbers into usable wood for cabinets, flooring and trim. This Project was done with Architect Andrew Chary, via our long standing client Cascade Builders Corp., of Saranac Lake, NY. This project is a vacation residence in the Adirondacks. The owners are excited to have a new house constructed with elements of old wood. In the room featured below, all of the flat wood you see is hand planed. Where we encountered profiles - or mouldings - we used a scraper to simulate hand planing. The results, as you can see, are spectacular! Most photos have a caption.
