While there are many aspects of going custom that appeal to our customers, it is a challenge to go from a blank page to a finished project.  The process starts with the initial meeting, and ends with the installation of your cabinetry.

Described below are the steps that are typical of most projects.

Initial Meeting:

The first meeting takes place at your home. This gives me the opportunity to look at the space we have to work with. I take "before" pictures and dimensions of the room with note of all the permanent features (walls, windows, doors).

And then I listen. You have undoubtedly been thinking about this for some time, and I want to be sure that I understand all of your expectations for the project. Many times customers will have magazine pictures of something they like. This is helps us understand your vision.

I also spend time getting to know your storage requirements. Whether it is books, clothes, or pots & pans, having a correct, convenient storage system is very important to us.

Working within your budget:

The kitchens you have been looking at here on our website have price tags that range from about $19,000 to over $90,000 installed. How your project is priced  is up to you! Early in the design process it is important to come up with a budget for cabinetry.

Once we have established the cabinetry budget, we will tailor the design and material selection to fit.

Preliminary Plans:

For the first set of plans, I often try to produce a couple of different options for you. This is a great, and inexpensive, way to test out the look of different floor plans.

How long it takes to go from preliminary to final plans depends on many different factors. To me, the most important consideration is you are comfortable with the design and confident that I have solved all of your unique needs.

Building Professional's Input:

Before we finalize the plans, it is imperative to have a meeting with the Architect, Interior Designer, Building Contractor that you have chosen to discuss the details of the project. This meeting is to ensure that all of the design, functional and structural elements will come together. The kitchen is the one area of the home where just about every trade is involved. Having good communication prior to starting cabinet work will allow us to create your vision with confidence.

Final Plans:

Once we have the final plans, production of your cabinets can begin.  We do everything possible to help you visualize your finished cabinetry before we begin production. Once we start production, any changes (other than small improvements) will slow us down and cost you more. Therefore, this is the time to be sure that everything is just the way you want it!

Production Begins:

Depending on the size of your project, your cabinets will be in our shop anywhere from 3 weeks to several months.  Regardless of the size, the actual cabinets are cut the very first day! That is why changes need to be made up front.

Installation:

As a custom shop, we do all of our own installations. This means that we are with you from concept to finished project!  During installation we become part of your onsite team. As such, we work with the other trades-people to facilitate the final product.
